For over 130 years, The Highbury Centre has been a place of rest, restoration and warm welcome for those who serve the Lord. Nestled in the tranquil, tree-lined surroundings of Aberdeen Park in Highbury, North London, we are far more than a place to stay. We are a home away from home.
Our Vision
To shine the light of Jesus Christ through hospitality.
Our Mission
To provide our guests a welcoming, comfortable, safe, peaceful, and affordable home to rest, meet, and fellowship.
About Us
In 1893, a simple but profound question was asked: where can a missionary returning to London, weary from months or years on the mission field, find a safe, comfortable and Christian place to rest?
The answer was the Foreign Missions Club, founded in December 1893 by a committee led by Reverend George Patterson. From its very first days, it opened its doors to missionaries and their families, offering not just a bed but a community. A place of prayer, fellowship and genuine care in the heart of a busy city.
Over the years, thousands of servants of God have walked through our doors. Men and women returning from Africa, Asia, the Americas and beyond. Pastors, evangelists, church workers and their families, all finding here what they needed most: peace, rest and the warmth of Christian fellowship.
In 2008, the Foreign Missions Club became The Highbury Centre, reflecting an open door to all Christians while remaining true to the original vision that has guided us for over a century.
Our mission today is the same as it was in 1893. We are here to provide a welcoming, comfortable, safe, peaceful, and affordable home to rest, meet, and fellowship for those who serve the Lord from across the world.
We believe that those who give their lives to ministry deserve to be cared for. Whether you are a missionary on furlough, a pastor attending a conference, a church worker in London for training, or simply someone who needs a quiet and welcoming place to stay, you will find it here.
We are also proud to be part of our local community in North London, with strong links to local churches. We are always happy to signpost our guests to Christian activities, gatherings and places of interest nearby.
