Guest Reviews: “What a gem this place is!”

A warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and value for money are all things that really matter to us here at The Highbury Centre. From our beginnings as the Foreign Missions Club in 1893, we’ve always worked hard to offer all our guests a peaceful and restorative stay with us.

That’s why we love it when our guests give us feedback on their experiences. From our convenient location in North London to our warm Christian ethos to our excellent facilities, recent visitors have encouraged us with their kind words.

“What a gem this place is!” said one. “In a lovely, quiet, leafy area, it is idyllic. Wonderful welcome, lovely staff, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast. Lovely gardens to relax in and family park nearby. If going to London, this is the place to stay.”One of the great benefits of staying at The Highbury Centre is the accessibility to bus and Tube routes, taking our guests wherever they want to go. A recent guest had this to say: “The location is great – close to Central London and local transport. The number 19 bus is a 5-minute walk away and the Tube is 15-20 minutes’ walk. There is free parking at The Highbury Centre which is another bonus. You pay £20 deposit for a parking pass which is refundable on return.”

At any one time, we’ll have Christian workers, families and students staying with us which makes for an amazing atmosphere. Over breakfast, there’s nothing we like more than to see guests striking up conversation, just as this family did. “The breakfast was plentiful and hearty, just what an English breakfast should be! One delightful aspect of breakfast time was visiting with folks involved in Christian ministry from around the world. There’s also a nice common room where our family could gather and enjoy our takeaway supper.”

As well as our great location, our sunny breakfast room and cosy lounges, we’ve got lots of other facilities which our guests enjoy. “We didn’t use the Hub ourselves, but our daughter enjoyed it while she was staying at the Highbury Centre. It features a fridge, microwave and tables. We used the luggage room to store our things while we travelled light for a weekend in Rome. We also used the phone in reception twice to get a direct line for the local taxi service. It was well-priced and reliable.”

From our convenient location, to our comfortable common spaces, to our free telephone taxi service at reception, we’ve tried to think of everything to make our guests’ stay as stress-free as possible. We very much look forward to welcoming you to our peaceful Christian guest house.
