Guest Reviews: First-Time Guest

The entire Highbury Centre team works hard every day to give the best possible customer service. We don’t do it for thanks, but when we receive a lovely review from a guest, it puts a big smile on all our faces. This is particularly true of first-time guests. We love it when they take the trouble to get in touch and give us feedback, as Lyn-Jean Hensleigh Murphy did recently.

Lyn-Jean found out about the Highbury Centre from her professors at Illinois-based Wheaton College. Described as one of the US’s foremost Christian institutions, Wheaton is a residential liberal arts college and graduate school. With the motto, “For Christ and His Kingdom”, the college is deeply rooted in the Christian faith. We have hosted many guests from Wheaton in the past, so we were delighted to hear what Lyn-Jean thought of us.

Like so many of our first-time guests, Lyn-Jean was struck by the central London location of our peaceful Christian guesthouse and its beautiful setting in leafy Highbury and Islington. She found her room clean and comfortable and loved having breakfast with other travellers. All her interactions with our staff were good ones, leading her to describe them as “gracious.” What sets us apart from other guesthouses is the opportunity to meet with like-minded followers of Jesus and to pray with them. Lyn-Jean found this a wonderful encouragement and bonus.

In addition to our comfortable bedrooms and sunny breakfast room, our public spaces are also much enjoyed and valued by our guests. “Time spent in the library was another bonus,” Lyn-Jean noted, “providing down time amid great literature and a peaceful atmosphere. The beautiful walled garden was another peaceful respite while utilising the laundry room as we prepared for another leg of our trip. Returning two weeks later gave us the chance to relax before the long flight home. Staff remembered our names and continued to be of great assistance to us.”

All our staff are on hand to help guests with whatever they need. Whether it’s sorting out a taxi from the front office, giving advice on nearby places to eat, local church service times or decoding the London Underground map, for us it’s all about giving guidance and encouragement to all our guests. Lyn-Jean found this extremely helpful during her stay.

We love it when a first-timer becomes a regular, as Lyn-Jean will shortly be. “We will continue to stay in this marvellous facility every time we visit the city and our family. Thank you, the Highbury Centre!”
