Relax and Unwind with Our Large Collection of Books and DVDs

Here at the Highbury Centre, it’s not just about the rooms, important though they are. Ever since our foundation as the Foreign Missions Club back in 1893, our vision has been to welcome all our guests and make sure they experience rest, relaxation and restoration in our tranquil North London Christian guest house.

Whether our residents are travelling alone, with friends or family, first-timers or regulars, we want them to feel that they are in a home from home when they stay with us. Something all our guests enjoy is our comfortable lounge with its beautiful view out on to our walled garden. Inside, we have a large collection of books as well as lots of DVDs and a TV.

We understand that after a long journey or a hard day’s work, it’s bliss to be able to nestle into a comfortable sofa and watch a film. That’s something our guests often do and we want to make sure we’ve got a wide selection for them to enjoy. We’ve got children’s films to entertain the younger members of the family, comedies, rom-coms, cartoons and much more.

Our extensive library is also much loved by our guests. In addition to our wide range of books, we have a subscription to Christianity magazine which is always packed full of thought-provoking and encouraging stories. Our lounge is furnished with large, comfortable sofas and armchairs, as well as having a hot drinks area plus many tempting treats to enjoy while reading. As a place to rest and unwind, it’s ideal.

We love it when our guests leave feedback on TripAdvisor. A recent overseas visitor said this: “The Highbury Centre is so charming – high ceilings and lots of light. Wander through the building and check out the multitude of lounges with cozy chairs. I was on my own one night and ended up in my own corner chair watching TV (Love Boat re-runs, yay!) The main lounge offers snacks and drinks, purchased on an honor system. There’s also a hot and cold-water dispenser that we used to fill our water bottles before heading out for the day. Each lounge has a TV and the main lounge has lots of family-friendly DVDs.”
