Dear Friends,

We would like to thank you all for your support and words of encouragement. Thank you for choosing to stay at our Guest House, The Highbury Centre. Our vision is to provide a place of rest and peace in the busiest city, and we are pleased you find our house being restful and peaceful.

In the midst of a world caught in unsettled uncertainty and conflict, desperately looking for peace, God has a plan, a Child is born as the Prince of Peace.

700 years before Jesus was born, the prophecy was given to the prophet Isaiah: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6, KJV)

Then years later in Luke 2:10 the angel appeared to shepherds and proclaimed the birth of the One who would be the Saviour of all.  When the angel finished his declaration, the sky was filled with a heavenly host who proclaimed: " Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:14, KJV)

The world seeks peace on a practical level, but the Kingdom of God sees peace in the person of Jesus Christ. Not only is Jesus a Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty God, and The Everlasting Father, but He is the Prince of Peace!

No matter what difficulties you are faced with, you can always ask for a peace that comes from the love of God that is not dependent on our own strength or the situation around us. Jesus is the Prince of Peace, Who reconciles us to God and also bring peace into our hearts. He is the Peace that we could never find anywhere else, only in Him.

Hope you will enjoy this song written by Matthew West, "Unto Us".

Things to Do in London

There are a great number of London Christmas markets to choose from this year. Whether you’re looking for gifts, family entertainment, creative crafts, market would be the best place to visit.

Here’re our 2 Christmas Market 2017 favourites:

Christmas by the River Walk

If you would like your walks along the river Thames, Christmas by the River Market is for you. You can find boutique accessories, artisan gifts, eating places, a wide range of workshops. It is a good place to relax and enjoy the day with your friends and family.

Winter Wonderland

There is plenty to do for all ages, something for all of the family regardless of age and preference with a huge ice rink, two circuses, winter markets, festive fairground rides, warming winter food. The best time to visit is middle of the week around 5pm. There are no long queues and it is dark enough to enjoy the Christmas lights.

If you like skating, the perfect day out would be at Somerset House.

The surroundings look so fabulous in the evening. The huge Christmas tree looks very Christmassy and sets a lovely backdrop for the skating. Even if you are not too keen on skating, you can still enjoy the day, watching the skaters in a lounge while enjoying hot chocolate drinks.

Do not miss New Year's Eve's celebration in London. You can watch the fireworks by the River. The atmosphere is always fantastic. Sadly, the tickets are sold out, but you can still find a place to watch all of the fireworks for free. Cannon Street and Tower Bridge would be a good option with a great view. Parliament Hill is a little bit further but will offer amazing views of other displays across London, with being less crowded.

We also recommend you to see Christmas lights at fashionable Carnaby Street. It's one of people's favourite with lots of shops, restaurants, fantastic street art and festive lights. The street is always full of life.

If you still need more ideas what to do in London in December, this website would be the best to visit.

The Highbury Centre News

We have many changes in our staff this year.

Agnes, the Assistant Manager, who prepared the newsletter, has left. It was great working with her and sad to see her go ☹. But at the same time, we are excited for all the blessings the Lord has given Agnes during this short period of time. In November she got married and found a new job. Yeah!!! All these good things at once!!!

Also, Beatrix, who had been working at the reception for 4 years, left us in September. She organised a Movie Night for our guests. We wish her the best on her new adventure!

Our kitchen is going to be refurbished this month. Because of this, we had a Christmas party earlier than usual, on the 1st of December. We spent a great time together, not only as co-workers but also as a family. After dinner we were in the spirit of dancing Salsa, enjoying fellowship and having fun.

We highly appreciate if you kindly take a few minutes to give us your impression of our Guest House and any suggestions you may have. You can do it through Facebook or Trip Advisor, or send us a Feedback Form through the website which is only read by us. Thank you.

The Highbury Centre Team is wishing you a Merry Christmas

and Happy New Year!

May the blessing of knowing Christ, the Prince of Peace, fill your hearts and home with peace and joy now and throughout the coming year!
