The museum was funded in 1753 and holds 7 million objects from Egypt, Greece, Rome and so on. It has several sections in different floors so either worth to visit as a day programme or just spend time with a few sections. Popular things to see are the mummies and the Rosetta stone but after finding a map in the main hall it is up to you.
Since the entry is free if you have a longer time in London it might worth to give it more days. Although, it can be crowded at times so it is suggested to arrive around opening or before closing times. (Opened daily between 10:00 am and 17:30 pm).
And how can you get there from the Highbury Centre? The museum is located in Bloomsbury very close to Covent garden. Get on bus 19 in Aberdeen Park and get off at Museum street in less than 30 minutes.

Enjoy your visit!
